LEC set for return on January 13th, 2024!

After a particularly rich and suspenseful season 2023, League of Legends’ EMEA championship (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) is in the starting-blocks again. Indeed, Riot Games announced that the fixtures would return on Saturday, January 13h, 2024, in Berlin’s notorious LEC Studio that will soon become the Riot Games Arena.

For the coming season, the video-game editor and championship organiser brought in a few alterations. For instance, the age-requirement for LEC gamers was officially raised to 18. This way, Riot Games made sure that gamers reached their majority before competing in Europe’s top-level competition.

The competitive format of the EMEA championship will suffer few changes, despite the announcement made during the Season Finals in Montpellier. The two traditional playoffs stages following the three weeks of each segment will be turned into a single bit of knockout games to ease the audience’s understanding. Also, the Summer Split was granted more stake, since its winner will automatically qualify to the Worlds 2024. Besides, the Summer Split’s three best teams will be granted tickets to the Season Finals 2024, which should urge players to give their best as the late stage of the season approaches.
