Esport honoured at Game Awards 2023!

Launched in 2013, the Game Awards have turned over the years into a central yearly event for the video-games’ ecosystem. Although the award for GOTY (Greatest Game of the Year) is without a doubt the most coveted of all, no less than 33 prices were granted in 2023 to cover the whole industry.

Among the awards, some categories unsurprisingly reward esports, its actors, its events or its games. As it turns out, year 2023 happened to be an excellent year for the esport’s industry, articulated around events such at Paris’ BLAST Major CS:GO, the EVO 2023, as well as by the success of some teams like Vitality or G2 Esports.

First and foremost, Riot Games’ FPS Valorant was awarded best esport game of the year. As for the best gamer, it is unsurprisingly Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, rewarded for his amazing performance during League of Legends’ Worlds 2023, during which he earned his fourth world champion title.

As for the best esport team, the award went to JD Gaming on LoL, winner of the Mid-Season Invitational and of the Chinese league. Christine “Potter” Chi was awarded best esport coach with Valorant team Evil Geniuses. Lastly, the best esport event in 2023 was granted to League of Legends’ Worlds.
