EA brings Apex Legends and FC together under one esports strategy

Electronic Arts is restructuring its esports division by bringing its biggest competitive titles under a single unified framework. While games like Apex Legends and EA SPORTS FC still have dedicated specialists, key departments such as marketing, league operations, communications, and social media now collaborate across all titles. The goal is to share expertise, streamline operations, and strengthen the overall esports ecosystem.

The strategy was on full display during the Esports World Cup, where Apex Legends attracted packed crowds for the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs while more than 500 EA SPORTS FC competitors battled for a prize pool exceeding $1 million. The event highlighted EA's growing presence across multiple esports genres.

Dinsmore also emphasized that esports communities share many similarities regardless of the game. Fans watch to improve, support favorite players, and celebrate their communities, although each title requires unique content tailored to its audience. EA believes understanding those differences is key to long term success.

Looking ahead, EA is investing heavily in mobile esports, particularly EA SPORTS FC Mobile, with Asia serving as the first major expansion market. Dinsmore also revealed interest in bringing franchises like Madden and College Football to future Esports World Cups if international demand continues growing.
